Welcome to My Blog
Welcome to my blog! My name is Melissa Dumas and I am a wife, a stay home mom, and a writer. To learn more about me please read my About Me section. I am super excited about this new chapter in my life. I have always enjoyed writing but for some reason I have had writer's block for way too long. God has been telling me to get back to writing and I am finally listening to His word. I intend to use this Blog as a way to write more frequently and to share goodness with others. When I knew that I wanted to blog I was torn with what to call or name my blog. I knew that I did not want to do just one topic, such as mental health, motherhood, or relationships. I knew that I wanted to focus on more things in life because there is more to me than just one thing, I am a wife, a mother, I am educated and trained as a Marriage & Family Therapist, I'm great at cooking, writing, and sharing knowledge with others. I knew that I wanted my blog and it's title to capture all of those things about me. I considered naming my blog Soup to Nuts, because I plan to cover various topics in this blog, but that name is taken.
One evening I was sharing with my husband that I was brainstorming and praying for a name for my blog. Once I shared with him that I did not want to be boxed into one category on my blog, but that I wanted to share good news about various life topics, he responded and said, "Oh, you mean like Glad Tidings!" Glad Tidings was the name of his mother's Florist business some years ago. In that moment I knew; I knew that my blog should be called Glad Tidings! I immediately called my mother in-law and asked her if I could use her previous business name as my new blog name and she said, "Yes, of course!" Sadly, we learned that Glad Tidings was already taken on-line so in that moment Glad Tidings by Mel was born.
I feel honored to start my blog with a name that has such a rich history of love, giving, caring, kindness, success, and blessings. At this time you may be asking, What does Glad Tidings mean? Glad Tidings simply means Good News! Good news, information, knowledge, words of wisdom, encouragement, motivation, etc is what I plan to deliver here on Glad Tidings by Mel.
